Trackside began in the summer of 2013 as a gift from the 2013 Goshen College senior class. Students who started Trackside hoped to utilize the garden as an opportunity for community members and college students to interact. With college students always moving in and out, it has been somewhat challenging to meet the needs of students in the short-term and the needs of neighbors in the long-term. “When food is ready, how do we get it to people who can use it?” said Josh Yoder, current garden coordinator. “The challenge is letting people know they are welcome… they can take without giving and that’s okay.” Recently, garden work days have been successful and Goshen College’s Eco-Pax club has helped get more students involved.
